Gamma Phi Beta is committed to creating a more just, equitable and loving sisterhood through our belonging, equity, diversity and inclusion (BEDI) framework. We are committed to a focused, thorough, deliberate and actionable process that is rooted in and guided by our four Core Values: Love, Labor, Learning and Loyalty. Gamma Phi Beta should be an organization where all members feel welcome and equally valued at all stages of their membership.
Belonging is exemplified in Gamma Phi Beta when members share and experience both greater belief in themselves as individuals and connection to something larger than themselves. Belonging can be experienced individually, within social circles, on the chapter level or broadly within Gamma Phi Beta. Equity is exemplified in Gamma Phi Beta when members are provided fair access to the type and quantity of resources individually necessary to have the same opportunities. Diversity is exemplified in Gamma Phi Beta when members embrace and honor a multiplicity of both individual and shared experiences, values, beliefs and characteristics. Inclusion is exemplified in Gamma Phi Beta when members intentionally bring historically excluded and marginalized individuals and/or groups into processes, activities, decision/policy making, and sharing of power in a way that empowers and celebrates individual/group diversity. Social justice is exemplified in Gamma Phi Beta when members actively practice allyship and coalition work in order to promote equality, equity, respect and the assurance of rights within and between communities and social groups.
Beyond the goals of Gamma Phi Beta International Sorority, the Epsilon Epsilon chapter is committed to enacting change on the Union College campus. In 2020, we implemented the BEDI program within our chapter, creating programming designed to educate sisters on social issues at weekly chapter meetings.
Our Diversity & Inclusion Statement
The Epsilon Epsilon chapter of Gamma Phi Beta is an anti-racist organization. We strive to be actively anti-racist and to provide support to our members in the areas of equity, social justice, and advocacy through the regular education of our members in our Belonging, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (BEDI) program. “Inspiring the highest type of womanhood” refers to all women, of any background or origin.
The Epsilon Epsilon chapter of Gamma Phi Beta outwardly supports the LGBTQ+ community and will act as allies to all.
We strive to ensure that everyone is respected, valued, and feels at home here. We recognize that building a diverse, inclusive, and equitable sisterhood is a continual process that includes engaging with Gamma Phi Beta’s role in the larger Greek system.
